Location Information

• What we collect: Your device's location when you use the app
• Why we collect it: To identify which subway station you're at when submitting reports
• How we use it: Only to pre-populate the station field when creating reports
• Storage: Location data is not stored on our servers or transmitted beyond station identification

Report Data

• What we collect: Anonymous reports about subway conditions that you choose to submit
• Information included: Subway line, direction, car position, issue type, optional notes, timestamp
• Personal data: We do NOT collect names, phone numbers, email addresses, or other personal identifiers

Automatically Collected Information

• Technical data: App version, device type (for crash reporting and app optimization)
• Usage data: Which features are used (to improve the app experience)

How We Use Information

Primary Uses

• Display real-time subway condition reports to all users
• Improve app functionality and user experience
• Ensure reports are relevant and current (automatic expiration)

Data Processing

• All reports are anonymous and cannot be traced back to individual users
• Reports automatically expire after 30 minutes to maintain relevance
• Location data is processed locally on your device

• Anonymous subway reports are visible to all app users
• Reports contain only: line, direction, car position, issue type, timestamp, optional notes

Data Security

Protection Measures

• All data transmission uses industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS)

• Reports are stored temporarily and automatically deleted
• Location processing happens locally on your device

Data Retention

• Anonymous reports: Automatically deleted after 30 minutes
• Technical/crash data: Retained for 30 days maximum
• Location data: Never stored or transmitted to our servers

Your Rights and Choices

Location Services

• You can disable location access in your device settings at any time
• The app will still function, but you'll need to manually select your station

Data Deletion

• Since we don't store personal data, there's no personal data to delete
• Reports are automatically deleted after 30 minutes
• Uninstalling the app removes any local data

Children's Privacy

Ride Report does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed for general public use and does not target children specifically.

Third-Party Services

MTA API

• We use official MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) GTFS-Realtime data
• This data is public and contains no personal information
• Used only to display train locations and schedules

Crash Reporting

• We may use anonymous crash reporting services to improve app stability
• No personal information is included in crash reports

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Providing notice through the app
• Posting updates on our website (if applicable)
